Working 9 to 5, part-time

I’m working part time! I haven’t quite gotten into the swing of things yet. I’m working Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays so it is like having two weekends during the weekend. Survive Monday and it’s like “is it the weekend again already?” Truly, the rhythm feels very strange — something that hasn’t been helped by public holidays and a day off with a head cold.

It’s a really interesting experience, and I am loving the extra access to sunshine, the sounds of birds, and the time reclaimed from commuting. In fact, the train and bus trips felt like a novelty yesterday, for the first time in a long time! And it means I can help a bit at home. Helping at home consists of hanging out washing, minding some kids whilst others are going to and from school. Simple but nice (and hopefully helpful).

And it’s time to get into some projects — like setting up this blog, and participating in beta testing for the next Global Agenda patch. The only concern is the reduced income, but we’ll see how the family budget goes. My part time arrangement lasts until the end of the year, and I could definitely get used to it!
